Do you wake up tired or not feeling 100%

UNSURE IF YOU’RE GETTING THE REST YOU NEED TO BE AT YOUR BEST DURING THE DAY? IF YOU WAKE UP TIRED, UNENERGETIC OF NOT FEELING 100%, IT MIGHT BE TIME TO GET YOUR SLEEP TESTED.

WHAT WE DO & WHAT TO EXPECT OF A HOME SLEEP STUDY

The sleep studies we offer are conducted in the comfort of your own home, meaning there is no need to visit a sleep clinic in a laboratory or hospital. This is an extensive testing of your sleep to look at brain waves (EEG), monitor heart rate and rhythm (ECG), eye movements (EOG), limb movements, your body position, and blood oxygenation levels during your sleep.

Our Sleep Scientist will talk you through the Medicare screening procedure, all that is required is a referral document provided by your general health physician (a GP referral is necessary for the Medicare contribution). From there we are able to book your appointment and commence your home sleep study. From here we will help organise the appointment with the sleep and respiratory physician, who will discuss your results and concerns with you.

Setting it Up:

The treatment plan will be tailored to you. Upon arrival, our Sleep Scientist will fit and adjust the home test device, making it pre-programmed for your normal sleep hours that given evening. They will apply the majority of the sensors, provide you with instructions you’ll need for the night and answer any outstanding questions you may have before leaving.

Going to Sleep:

Your home-based polysomnogram (diagnostic sleep study machine) measures exactly what happens as you sleep, the same as it would in a clinic or hospital setting. As highlighted above, it measures your breathing patterns and stoppages, blood oxygen levels, heart activity, brain activity, sleeping position and limb movements. Our sleep devices are very small and fit in the palm of your hand, making it easy to sleep in any position you like and has a lesser chance to interfering with your sleep, as opposed to devices used in out of home studies.

Your Sleep Scientist will then be in touch to make sure everything is set up and functioning properly in which event you can then follow your usual nightly routine. To reiterate, in order to get the best possible recording of how you typically sleep…you need to sleep typically. Home-based studies are ideal for this very reason. The diagnostic recorder will begin recording once you fall asleep. It’s that simple.

The following morning:

The device will be picked up by your Sleep Scientist the following morning, at a time of your choosing. The recording will be sent to our scorer to interpret the data and look out for any bio-physiological changes that occurred at night, to determine if there are any abnormalities. For this, we send the study to a Sydney based sleep scientist. Unlike most third-party providers, we do not send the studies overseas to cut costs. Quality is of the utmost importance to us and our scorer will be in direct communication with our Sleep Scientist, to discuss if any discrepancies had occurred. This will then be relayed to your general health physician.

Your condition is then accurately diagnosed by your general health physician, in which case they will give you a step by step process of how to treat your diagnosis.
